Go live on Google Play

A pre-flight checklist for promoting your app from internal testing to the public Play Store. Ruby Native handles the builds, signing, and uploads; this page is everything left, with links to the details.

Shipping iOS too? Nothing transfers automatically between the stores, so the App Store has its own checklist.

#What Ruby Native already handles

  • Code signing and delivery to the Play internal testing track
  • App icons and launch screens in the correct formats
  • Permission strings generated from your dashboard settings
  • Screenshots captured against your deployed site

#The checklist

Ruby Native delivers every Android build to internal testing, which skips review. This list is what stands between internal testing and the public Play Store; the Play submission guide walks through each screen.

  • Decide how you'll handle payments. Same decision as on iOS, different rules. Payments covers Google's.
  • Account deletion, plus a web link. Play also requires a public page where users can request deletion without the app. More.
  • App access credentials. Play's demo account, under App content. Must work from any country and bypass any one-time codes. More.
  • Title and descriptions. No keyword field on Play; the title (30), short description (80), and full description (4,000) are all indexed for search. More.
  • Graphics. At least 2 phone screenshots (your App Store set works), a 1024 by 500 feature graphic, and a 512 by 512 icon. More.
  • Data safety form. Play's privacy questionnaire, more granular than Apple's. Walkthrough.
  • Content rating and declarations. The IARC questionnaire plus target audience, ads, news, government, financial, and health forms. Most answers are "no," but every form must be submitted. More.
  • Check your account type. Personal developer accounts created after November 2023 need a 12-tester closed test for 14 days before production. Organization accounts skip it. More.

Then promote to production with managed publishing turned on. First reviews take hours to a week; updates after that usually clear in hours.
